THE RUSHTON
The RUSHTON is the realized dream of Francesco Pronesti, who after thirteen years of ownership of the family-run Ferro, saw the potential for something a little different in the neighborhood he has become quite fond of. This led to the inception of The Rushton: a cozy, neighborhood-oriented, French inspired bistro. Located just West of Forrest hill, in the comfortable surroundings of Hillcrest Village, The Rushton is a gathering place for friends & family to enjoy each others company while dining on great food and enjoying some of our fantastic selections from the bar or our carefully selected wine list.
The history of the building The Rushton calls home at 740 St Clair Avenue West, is a story all its own. It was previously the home for 45 years, to the Di Maria Food Market. A cornerstone of the community, the Di Maria market was a family run market for fresh produce and meats.
Walking into the dining room of The Rushton, your eyes are treated to the site of a solid bronze chandelier, a vintage piece from 1920’s France, which casts a beautiful glow to the rough-hewn stone walls, and of course reflects warmly the charming characteristics of the original pressed-tin ceiling still in place today. Should table service not be the order of the day, The Rushton also boasts a very large, marble-topped bar fully stocked with a fine array of aperitifs and digestifs to suit any taste, proudly displayed on its rich walnut shelves. From the bar your gaze moves to the compact, fully open kitchen, which works with quiet efficiency preparing the full menu and tonight’s dinner specials.
During the warmer months, the large windows at the front and to the side of the main entrance become an accordion of sliding glass, moving aside to allow for the intimacy of a dining room with the airy-casual nature of being outside. Similarly, there is also the option of the always-sunny Rushton Patio. Designed to offer the same warm characteristics as the dining room, the patio is equal in size to its indoor sister, with fresh flowers, the same exquisite brick work as inside and is fitted with a canopy covering a portion of the patio for those that don’t want quite so much sun.
All of this helps to set the tone for your evening at The Rushton.
We look forward to seeing you.
